Have an "Inside-Out-Makeover" with the YW. It is best to do this activity when you have a sleepover so that there is enough time to do everything. First, talk about outside beauty and have
makeovers. Use natural beauty remedies, the girls may think this is gross
but will be surprised at how their skin feels afterward. (Recipes below.)
Then
After all of that, invite a previous YW leaders or someone who has been involved with and respected by the girls and get them to give a talk on self esteem/child of God and the Importance of the YW values. Another good idea is to make up a `special sign' that the girls can use towards each other when they feel it is needed if they need support etc. Recipes: Cornmeal Scrub
- use facial scrubs about once a week.
1 ½Tbs yellow cornmeal
Mix together in palm of your hand until
it forms a grainy liquid. Apply to face, massaging lightly
Egyptian Egg
Masque - masques are used to keep the skin tight.
1 egg white Slather egg white on your face. Leave for
15-20 minutes or until it becomes dry and tight. Rinse
Oatmeal Masque - oatmeal is good for oily skin as it helps remove excess oil. 2Tbs oatmeal
Mix to form a thick paste. Slather onto clean skin and allow to remain 15-20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water and a final splash of cool water. Mexican Moisturising Masque 1Tbs minced parsley
Mix to thin paste, apply to face and allow to remain for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water and a final splash of cool water. Mayo Magic (moisturiser) 1Tbs mayonnaise Apply in a thin sheet. Massage lightly
with fingertips in upward circles. Leave a few
Crème
Indienne - for dry/normal skin.
1Tbs heavy cream
Place cream into small bowl; squeeze lime juice and mix. This will turn the cream slightly. Rub onto skin and massage lightly with fingertips. Allow to remain for 20 minutes, rinse. Exfoliant - helps slough off dry skin and makes skin "glow". ¼c coarse table salt Pour salt into palm of hand and rub onto dull areas of body using slow circular motions. Avoid any nicks or cuts. Complete with a shower. OR 1 avocado Peel avocado and eat it. Rub the peel over rough areas like elbows and knees. The inside of the peel contains soothing oil that will gradually soften the skin while the peel is slightly abrasive. Toner - (astringent). 1Tbs cider vinegar
Mix and place in a bottle that has a tight seal. Keep in refrigerator. (May use strained juice from 2 lemons in place of cider vinegar.)
